If you're new to nursing, you can complete a certificate in three semesters or earn an associate's degree. If you're already a working nurse, we have an online RN-to-BSN program so you can get your bachelor's degree. No matter your path, FRCC's caring faculty and supportive community are here to help you succeed.

Why Study Nursing at Front Range Community College?

At FRCC, we have several program options to meet you where you are. No matter which one you choose, you'll have compassionate, dedicated faculty. You'll get experience with state-of-the-art equipment in our training and simulation labs. Plus, we have partnerships with local health agencies and clinics for on-the-job experience.

Our success is shown in our graduates' outcomes. On our Westminster Campus, 100% of our graduates passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) in 2022, higher than the national pass rate of 79.9%. On our Larimer Campus, 98.2% of our graduates passed the NCLEX in 2022

Our Programs

Practical Nursing Certificate. This program can be completed in three semesters and prepares you to be a licensed practical nurse (LPN). You'll be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX®PN).

AAS in Nursing. This associate of applied science degree trains you to become a registered nurse. Our rigorous classwork, clinical experiences and expert faculty will prepare you for this important career. You'll also qualify to take the NCLEX®RN exam.

LPN-to-ADN Program. If you are already a licensed practical nurse, you can apply for our LPN-to-ADN (licensed practical nurse to associate's degree in nursing) program. You will be able to transfer your credit from your completed program to earn an AAS in Nursing.

RN-to-BSN Program. FRCC also offers an online RN-to-BSN program in which you will earn your bachelor's degree in nursing. You may apply for this program if:

  • You have earned an associate's degree in nursing (ADN) and have a nursing license
  • You have successfully completed the first semester of an ADN program, continue to be enrolled in the program and would like to complete a four-year BSN.

With our RN-to-BSN, you'll increase your likelihood for jobs in specialty practice areas, acute care, community health and leadership.

Two Campuses with Distinct Programs

FRCC offers nursing programs on two of our campuses. Each nursing department has different options, application cycles and requirements. We encourage you to explore each program's offerings to find the one that best fits your career goals.

Degree Options

AAS in Nursing: Zero-Cost Program

Program Locations: Larimer, Westminster

Total Credits: 71.5 credits (4 semesters)

Become a registered nurse (RN) through our four-semester program. Learn how to provide and manage care in various health care environments. You will study courses such as:

  • Fundamentals of Nursing
  • Pharmacology
  • Medical Surgical Nursing
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing

Under the supervision of faculty and licensed staff, you'll practice in our on-campus labs and off-campus in local facilities. With an AAS degree in nursing, you will be able to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) exam for licensure as a RN.

Admission into the RN program is a competitive process with additional requirements.

LPN-to-ADN AAS: Zero-Cost Program

Program Location: Westminster

Total Credits: 74.5 credits (3 semesters)

This unique degree option is for students who are already licensed as practical nurses in Colorado and have worked at least six months full-time. You can transfer your credit from a completed LPN program and finish an AAS in nursing. In less than two years, you will be able to reenter the workforce with more training and experience. You'll explore:

  • Advanced medical surgical nursing concepts
  • Microbiology
  • Pharmacology
  • Psychiatric/mental health nursing

Admission into the LPN-to-ADN program is a competitive process with additional application and requirements.

RN-to-BSN Completion Program

Program Location: Online

Total Credits: 120 credits (4 semesters)

Earn your bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) with our flexible online program. This program is made for students in the associate's degree in nursing (ADN) program and registered nurses. You'll complete the majority of the program online while also attending in-person practicums. For these clinical experiences, you'll work with nursing experts near where you live or work.

Take courses such as:

  • Integration into BSN Practice
  • Leadership in the Nursing Profession
  • Community Health Nursing Practicum
  • Nursing Research/Evidence-Based Practice

If you are an ADN student, you will have to take and pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) exam for licensure as an RN before you earn your BSN. You can do this during your program.

If you already have your associate's degree in nursing (ADN), you can finish this program in as little as two years (four full-time semesters). Our flexible schedule allows all of our BSN students to finish the degree in an extended time period.

Admission into the RN to BSN Completion program is a non-competitive process with additional application and requirements.

Practical Nursing: Zero-Cost Program

Total Credits: 43 credits (2 semesters)

Learn to provide nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse, physician or dentist. You'll learn to make health assessments and care for patients from newborns to the elderly. You'll study the skills you need for careers in:

  • Long-term care facilities
  • Clinics
  • Home care
  • Doctors' offices
  • Hospitals

You'll be eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (PN NCLEX®).

Admission into the Practical Nursing program is a competitive process with additional application and requirements.

Careers & Outcomes

Your certificate program in nursing can open doors for a career in nursing. Although some careers may require bachelor's and graduate degrees, you'll get a strong foundation with a degree from FRCC.
