Non-Credit Behavioral Health Courses

 

Behavioral Health Plus

Locations: Boulder County, Larimer, Westminster
Total Credits: 6 credits (1 semester)

The Behavioral Health Plus certificate is intended to be an add-on for those who already work in a community-facing role.  Students will develop foundational behavioral health knowledge and entry-level crisis management. Behavioral Health Plus professionals are equipped with skills that include:

  • Empathy and Rapport Building
  • Communication and Motivational Interviewing
  • Legal and Ethical Considerations related to Behavioral Health

Knowledge of Mental Health Disorders and Documentation

Qualified Behavioral Health Assistant

Locations: Boulder County, Larimer, Westminster
Total Credits: 10 credits (1 semester)

Qualified Behavioral Health Assistant certificate students learn entry-level behavioral health knowledge and skills that focus on wellness, intercultural competency, therapeutic communication, and case management. Students who complete the Behavioral Health Assistant certificate are equipped with skills that include:

  • Understanding of Behavioral Health and Healthcare Systems
  • Empathy and Healthy Boundaries
  • Therapeutic Communication Skills
  • Introduction to Case Management and Documentation
  • Cultural Awareness

Behavioral Health Assistant II

Locations: Boulder County, Larimer, Westminster
Total Credits: 16 credits (1 semester)

The Behavioral Health Assistant II certificate builds on the Qualified Behavioral Health Assistant certificate by adding service-learning experience and a deeper understanding of diversity. Upon completion of this certificate, students have experience applying concepts and skills in the behavioral health setting.

Students who complete the Behavioral Health Assistant II certificate are equipped with skills that include:

  • Professional experience in the Behavioral Healthcare Systems
  • Empathy and Healthy Boundaries
  • Applied Therapeutic Communication Skills
  • Behavioral Health Documentation

Cultural Awareness

Patient Navigator

Locations: Boulder County, Larimer, Westminster
Total Credits: 12 credits (1 semester)

Patient Navigator certificate students learn to support clients in identifying resources and navigating behavioral healthcare services. Patient navigators focus on promoting client health and well-being. Students learn:

  • Empathy and Cultural Awareness
  • CPR and Basic Vital Signs
  • Understanding of Behavioral Healthcare Services
  • Interpersonal Communication Skills
  • Boundaries around Self-Disclosure
