Disability Support Services

Welcome

Disability is an aspect of the diversity of life and is integral to our society and to the Front Range Community College campus. Persons with disabilities are welcomed as equal members into the diverse and inclusive environment of the college.

  • Disability Support Services supports the vision and goals of the college which focus on the academic success of all students, with a strong commitment to diverse learners, an inclusive learning environment, robust support systems, and a reduction in barriers. This means an equitable and just climate of inclusivity where all are welcomed, supported, valued for their contributions, and can work and learn in safe, accessible facilities.
  • We use the word “accommodation” to describe an academic adjustment that reduces barriers caused by a disability to provide equal access to the learning environment.
  • Do you have a disability? Many FRCC students do - visible and invisible, permanent and temporary. Let us ensure that you have access to all FRCC programs, activities, and services.
  • Not sure if you have a disability? Many students do not get diagnosed until college. Come talk to us - we can help you sort it out and determine your next steps.
  • Review the steps below to discover more about Front Range Community College disability services and how to obtain accommodations that may support you while at FRCC.

How to Get the Support You Need

1. INTAKE: An intake appointment must be scheduled with the student's campus DSS office. Intake appointments are usually one hour in length.

  • When the student comes in for their appointment, please bring a photo ID, Student number, and documentation of disability. This information will help us provide the best support possible.
  • If the student's documentation is not yet available, or is in question, the student should still come to the intake appointment anyway.
  • Contact information for each campus is located on the right side of this page. We look forward to meeting you!

2. ACTIVATE: After completing an intake appointment, the student receives notification of approved accommodations within 10 business days. The student must then activate the accommodations by submitting the online request form.

  • A Letter of Accommodation will be sent to the student and instructors via your FRCC email.
  • If the student's request is received less than three (3) weeks prior to the start of the semester, the process may be delayed.
  • Accommodations are not retroactive and they will not begin until an official FRCC Letter of Accommodation has been delivered.

3. RENEW: As soon as the student registers for future classes, accommodation requests must be renewed every semester by completing this online form.

4. COMMUNICATE: It is the student's responsibility to communicate with their instructors throughout the semester to confirm:

  • Instructors have received the accommodation letter, and
  • To coordinate with them how the student's accommodations will be fulfilled for their class(es).

If you have any questions or concerns, contact your campus DSS office immediately, using the contact information provided to the right.
