Posting Opportunities via Handshake

Employers can post jobs and internship opportunities for FRCC students and alumni via the Handshake platform. Current Handshake users can find FRCC listed as "Front Range Community College." If you do not have a Handshake account, we encourage you to explore Handshake’s overview for new employers and connect with us through our profile. We encourage employers to use the FREE basic Handshake account to reach students by connecting to FRCC. FRCC encourages employers to provide opportunities for students that will enhance or help them achieve their employment goals once their degrees are received. As well, we do have several BAS programs, but the majority of our students are either in an AA/AS transfer program, we do not typically post Bachelors, Masters, or PhD required positions on Handshake.

Equal Opportunity Employment

Employers posting opportunities must adhere to all Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) standards, ensuring that recruitment, hiring, and employment practices are free from discrimination. FRCC follows guidelines set by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Principles for Ethical
Professional Practice.

Criteria for Posting Jobs

  • To ensure equitable service and appropriate opportunities for FRCC students, employers must meet the following criteria:
  • Affiliation: Employers must be affiliated with a for-profit corporation, non-profit organization, government agency, or local municipality.
  • Job Relevance: The job or internship must be relevant to programs and majors offered at
    Front Range Community College. See list of programs.
  • Compensation: All posted positions, including internships, must be paid at least the local
    minimum wage. The FRCC Career & Transfer Services Center does not allow unpaid internships due to our commitment to equity for all students.
  • Employee Classification: All positions must be classified as W-2 employment. FRCC does not allow 1099 classifications to ensure that all students receive the appropriate legal protections as employees.
  • Non-discriminatory Practices: All employers must commit to non-discriminatory and
    fair hiring practices, as per the standards outlined by the EEOC and NACE listed above.

Prohibited Postings

FRCC does not allow the following types of employment opportunities to be posted:

  • Positions that charge fees to applicants or require personal financial investment (e.g.,
    franchise or "pay to work" opportunities).
  • Personal job postings, including household work or childcare. These can be referred to
    our Student Life department and be posted on Community Boards, Student Life requires
    that employers bring 10 flyers to each campus to be posted on the Community Boards.
    Student Life and FRCC Career & Transfer Services will not print flyers.
  • Direct marketing positions (e.g., multi-level marketing or pyramid schemes).
  • Positions in the marijuana and cannabis industry. FRCC adheres to federal regulations
    regarding these substances, and therefore, job opportunities in this sector are not allowed.

Internship Guidelines

Internships must provide meaningful, career-related experiences that align with academic learning goals. All internships must be compensated at or above minimum wage to ensure that students from all backgrounds can access these opportunities equitably.

Employer Responsibilities

Employers utilizing FRCC Career Services are responsible for:

  • Ensuring that their postings are current, accurate, and relevant.
  • Maintaining professional and ethical conduct in all communications and interactions with
    students, alumni, and Career Services staff.
  • Offering fair and reasonable timelines for accepting job offers and refraining from
    placing undue pressure on students to make quick decisions.

Legal Compliance

All employment opportunities posted must comply with federal, state, and local labor laws, including those related to wage and hour requirements, workplace safety, and employment eligibility verification through the I-9 process or E-Verify (if applicable).

Third-Party Recruiters

Third-party recruiters must clearly identify their client companies and are not permitted to charge fees to applicants. FRCC reserves the right to monitor and remove any third-party postings that do not comply with our standards and are not directly related to our majors and degree programs.

Workplace Safety and Conditions

Employers must provide a safe working environment that complies with OSHA standards. FRCC expects employers to foster a positive workplace atmosphere that is free from harassment, discrimination, and exploitation.

Confidentiality

Employers must respect the confidentiality of students' personal and professional information. Any data collected during the recruitment process must be used solely for hiring purposes and handled in accordance with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) regulations.

Non-Solicitation

Employers may not use career services as a platform for selling products or services to students.
Recruitment efforts must focus solely on legitimate employment and internship opportunities.

Right to Refuse or Remove Postings

FRCC reserves the right to refuse or remove any job posting that does not meet these guidelines or is deemed inappropriate for our student and alumni community. Additionally, FRCC reserves the right to modify these guidelines at any time, with or without notice.

Volunteer Opportunities

FRCC recognizes the value of volunteer experiences in contributing to student development. Employers offering volunteer opportunities must adhere to the following guidelines, which comply with federal regulations and NACE standards:

  • Nonprofit Affiliation: Volunteer positions must be associated with a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Opportunities should align with the organization’s mission and contribute to the public good.
  • Educational and Skill Development: Volunteer roles should provide meaningful experiences that enhance a student’s learning and career related skills, ideally connected to their field of study or career goals.
  • Non-Displacement of Paid Workers: Volunteer roles should not displace regular employees or perform tasks that are typically paid. These opportunities must be offered without expectation of monetary compensation and must not directly benefit the organization in a commercial sense.
  • Compliance with Federal Law: All volunteer opportunities must comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regarding the distinction between unpaid volunteers and employees. Positions that involve for-profit organizations will not be considered volunteer opportunities but must be compensated as employment.
  • Equal Opportunity and Non-Discriminatory Practices: Volunteer recruitment must align with EEO standards and NACE’s Principles for Ethical Professional Practice, ensuring non-discriminatory practices in all recruitment and involvement efforts.
  • Safety and Ethical Standards: The organization must ensure a safe and supportive environment for volunteers, free from harassment and discrimination, and must follow ethical practices as outlined in the NACE standards.
  • Prohibited Volunteering: FRCC does not accept volunteer postings that serve the marijuana or cannabis industry due to federal regulations.
    FRCC reserves the right to review and, if necessary, remove any volunteer postings that do not align with these standards.
