Career Counseling

Get help deciding what to major in, understanding your career options and landing your first job or internship. Our career services team is here to help.

To explore what academic programs and careers could be strong and appealing options for you, we recommend meeting with a career counselor who can help you discuss and explore your interests, preferences, strengths, goals, and priorities.

Call us at 303-678-3722 to schedule an appointment with a career counselor. There is no charge for career counselor appointments.

How Career Services Can Help

Career Assessments

  • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI): A personality assessment helps you identify career options and work environments that might be a good fit, based on your preferences and personality type. ($15)
  • Strong Interest Inventory: An interest inventory designed to help you identify career-related interests, evaluate your work style preferences, and create career research strategies. ($15)
  • Knowdell Career Values and Motivated Skills: Hands-on activities to help you assess your skills and prioritize values that are important to you in the workplace. (Free)
  • YouScience: Uses proven science and algorithms, combining your aptitudes and interests, to support self-discovery and an increased confidence in your career path. An interpretation of your results with a career advisor in our office is required for this instrument. (Free)
  • O*Net Interest Profiler:
    • Go to eWOLF and log on.
    • Hover over Student Resources, and click the last link “Wolf Careers (off campus jobs).”
    • Once logged in, on the left hand menu, click “Career Path,” and take the Interest Profiler.
    • Follow the instructions and print your results. Bring (or email results) to the Career Success Center to discuss your results with a Career Counselor. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 303-678-3722. (Free)

After you complete an assessment, results are sent to your career counselor, who you will meet with to go over your results, discuss what they mean, and explore your career options.

Jobs and Internships

We partner with local businesses to help qualified FRCC students and alumni gain practical work experience through jobs, job shadowing, internships and volunteer opportunities that match their talents and passions. Come in to talk with one of our counselors about the possibilities. In addition, our career counselors can help you:

  • Understand career and labor market information (average starting salaries and skills in demand)
  • Build or tweak your resume and cover letter to perfection
  • Take advantage of alternative job search strategies like informational interviews, job shadowing, and networking

Career Resources

  • We've created a user-friendly Career Guide to help guide you through choosing a program of study (major), transferring to a four-year college or university, setting career goals, exploring ways to get hands-on professional experience, creating resumes and cover letters, preparing for an interview and conducting a job search.

Explore employment trends, find out what careers match your major and more with these additional recommended resources.
