We believe in giving you the strongest possible foundation for your education. Research shows that those who attend a new student orientation feel more connected and prepared during their college experience. So if you're new to college, you're invited attend a new student orientation at FRCC.

When is Orientation?

New Student Orientation session are offered in the weeks before the start of a new semester.  There are multiple options for New Student Orientation based on your campus. 

Please Note: Before attending a New Student Orientation session, you should first meet with your advisor and register for your classes.

Boulder County Campus

Longmont

All New Student Orientation sessions start with an optional Meet & Greet lunch from noon - 1 pm. The actual Orientation runs from 1 - 3 pm each day.

Larimer Campus

Fort Collins

All New Student Orientation sessions start with an optional Meet & Greet lunch from noon - 1 pm. The actual Orientation runs from 1 - 3 pm each day.

Westminster Campus

All New Student Orientation sessions start with an optional Meet & Greet lunch from noon - 1 pm. The actual Orientation runs from 1 - 3 pm each day.

Who Should Attend?

All FRCC students who are new to college are asked to attend a New Student Orientation session. While not required, we also welcome transfer students, guest students and readmitted students too.

Parents/families and other support people are welcome to attend with their student (though no childcare is provided). There will be an optional special session for this group during the orientation.

What Happens During a New Student Orientation?

During this orientation, you'll:

  • Get an overview of tools and resources to help you be successful in and out of the classroom
  • Get answers to frequently asked questions
  • Learn about options to pay for college
  • Meet FRCC staff and other new students
  • All students attending New Student Orientation are eligible to enter a drawing to win a scholarship!

What if All of My Classes are Online?

We want students who are taking all their classes online to be just as successful as those attending classes on-campus. To help you be prepared, we have an online orientation program—an on-demand virtual session, available 24/7. There is also an Introduction to Online Learning which explains how to use the MyCourses (D2L) platform. Students can sign up to access the Online New Student Orientation. After logging in, click on the checkbox next to the New Student Orientation course and then click on the Register button.
