Dental Assisting Admissions Process

1. Watch the Mandatory Information video

2. Apply to FRCC 

Apply to Front Range Community College, declare your major and transfer credits (if applicable).

You should also apply for financial aid.

3. Complete College Readiness Assessments

Take the English Composition: ENG 1021 assessment to determine college readiness.

  • If the answer is A or B on Readiness to Attempt the Essay and majority of checkmarks are in the “somewhat experienced” or "experienced" column. You are ready to enter the dental assisting program.
  • If the answer is C or D on Readiness to Attempt the Essay and majority of checkmarks are in the "not experienced" or "somewhat experienced" columns it is suggested that the recommended course(s) get completed prior to entry into the dental assisting program.

4. Meet with Your Advisor & Register for Classes

Your Academic Advisor will help you select your courses. Register for courses per My Academic Map (MAP) part-time/full-time.

5. Attend a Virtual Orientation

The virtual orientation can be found in MyCourses under the Dental Assisting Program Orientation.

6. Submit Additional Paperwork Prior to Program Entry

  • Review the Student Handbook (in MyCourses) and complete the Student Handbook Quiz.
    • The quiz is located in MyCourses Dental Assisting Program Orientation (FRCC) Semester Year Attending. Note: you will be granted access by the Program Director/Clinic Coordinator upon registration.
  • Complete the Essentials Functions Form
  • Complete the Information Sheet/ADA Survey 
  • Upload any additional required documentation listed in MyCourses Orientation.

Dental Assisting Program Requirements

  • Copy of High School Diploma or GED
  • Copy of Government issued drivers license, ID, or Passport
  • Complete a Background check through CastleBranch. http://cccs.castlebranch.com/  
  • Proof of Vaccinations:
    • Initial Hep B vaccination (series of 2-3 doses or a signed waiver
    • Tdap (within 10 years)
    • TB-Two Step (Preferred QuantiFERON Gold Test), renew annually
    • Hepatitis B Series (two-three shots) or proof of immunity via a positive titer
    • Measles, Mumps Rubella (MMR, two shots or proof of immunity via a positive titer)
    • 2 Varicella a.k.a. Chickenpox (proof of vaccination, immunity via a positive titer)
    • Seasonal influenza vaccine October – March, renew annually
    • COVID-19 vaccine series.
  • Copy of current CPR card (American Heart Association Course or American Red Cross-CPR BLS). You will earn this in DEA 1016 Medical Emergencies if you do not already have one or expired (Can also be met privately).

In addition to the requirements outlined in this handbook, students are required to meet all pre-internship/pre-externship and internship/externship requirements set by the clinical site they are placed with.  This may include providing documentation of receipt of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Acceptance of a student for internship/externship placement is determined by the clinical site.  If a student fails to meet the requirements of their site and is not allowed to participate in or continue in an assigned rotation because of non-compliance with site requirements an additional placement site will not be made available to the student.

All the above documentation must be turned in prior to the semester starting or show as “In Progress”.
