Your parent(s)/guardian(s) live in Colorado AND
you HAVE NOT attended FRCC
you HAVE NOT attended FRCC
If you have never attended FRCC, or have not attended in the past three years as a non-resident, you may qualify for in-state tuition.
To qualify for in-state-tuition:
- Complete the Correction to Application for Tuition Classification form with your parents' information.
- Provide requested documentation.
- Submit the form and documentation to the Registrar's Office at your campus by the earliest drop date for your courses. If you miss the deadline, you will need to submit a Petition for Residency form.
- Look for a decision in your CCCS student email account within one week.
Your parent(s)/guardian(s) live in Colorado AND
you HAVE Attended FRCC
you HAVE Attended FRCC
If you have attended FRCC within the last three years as a non-resident, or have missed the deadline to submit the Correction to Application for Tuition Classification form, you may still qualify for in-state tuition.
To qualify for in-state-tuition:
- Complete a Petition for Residency form with your parent or legal guardian's information.
- Provide requested documentation.
- Submit the form and documentation to the Registrar's Office at your campus no later than 30 days after the start of your earliest course. If you miss the deadline, your petition will be reviewed for the following semester.
- Look for a decision in your CCCS student email account within two weeks.
Your parent(s)/guardian(s) DO NOT live in Colorado OR
you are emancipated from your parents
you are emancipated from your parents
Emancipation requires documentation of financial independence and the ability to maintain your own residence and associated expenses in addition to tuition. If you receive financial support from your parents, extended family, friends or other similar sources, including trusts and loans, you are not considered emancipated.
To qualify for in-state-tuition:
- Complete a Petition for Residency form with your information.
- Provide all physical presence, intent and emancipation documentation listed on the checklist to show you are financially independent from your parents.
- Submit the form and documentation to the Registrar's Office at your campus no later than 30 days after the start of your earliest course. If you miss the deadline, your petition will be reviewed for the following semester.
- Look for a decision in your CCCS student email account within two weeks.
You have been married more than one year AND
you HAVE NOT attended FRCC
you HAVE NOT attended FRCC
If you have never attended FRCC, or have not attended in the past three years as a non-resident, you may qualify for in-state tuition.
- Simply provide a copy of your marriage license to the residency examiner at the campus you wish to attend.
- Be sure to indicate the marriage license is for residency purposes so it is correctly routed to the residency examiner.
- If, after providing your marriage license, your residency status does not change and you believe you qualify for Colorado residency, please contact the Registrar's Office at your campus.

you HAVE attended FRCC
If you have attended FRCC within the last three years as a non-resident, or have missed the deadline to submit the Correction to Application for Tuition Classification form, you may still qualify for in-state tuition.

- Provide all requested documentation, including a copy of your marriage certificate.
- Submit the form and documentation to the Registrar's Office at your campus no later than 30 days after the start of your earliest course. If you miss the deadline, your petition will be reviewed for the following semester.
- Look for a decision in your CCCS student email account within two weeks.
