President's Innovation Fund

Fueling Innovation. Designing the Future. Transforming FRCC.

Dr. Colleen Simpson HeadshotAs we launch FRCC’s new Strategic Plan: Forward, Together, President Colleen Simpson is reinvesting in our college community through the President’s Innovation Fund—a bold opportunity for faculty and staff to bring forward creative, high-impact projects that move the needle on student and employee success, directly aligning with the plan’s priorities and action steps.

This fund supports institutional building capacity projects and innovative ideas that align with our five strategic priorities and propel FRCC forward as we redefine community college education:

  1. Learning Without Limits: Expand innovative programs that adapt to students and meet workforce needs.
  2. Success for Every Learner: Deliver inclusive, student-focused experiences that drive opportunity.
  3. Vibrant Culture: Foster a workplace of belonging, growth and engagement.
  4. College Excellence: Lead with operational excellence, sustainability and innovation.
  5. Transformational Partnerships: Strengthen communities through powerful partnerships and impact.

About the Fund

The President’s Innovation Fund is designed to catalyze innovation across FRCC by investing in forward-thinking projects that:

  • Enhance the student experience and improve outcomes
  • Elevate employee engagement, belonging and growth
  • Strengthen FRCC’s operational excellence and reputation
  • Build transformational partnerships with industry, K-12 and universities
  • Prepare FRCC and our students for a rapidly changing future

Dr. Simpson has allocated $100,000 for this project. Applicants can request up to $25,000 to fund their innovative projects or initiatives. A maximum of four projects or initiatives will be approved per year.

This is more than funding; it’s a call to action to rethink what’s possible for our college and community.

Next Steps

A cross-functional committee representing all areas of our college will be formed in early fall to accomplish the following:

  • Establish the Program Charter and Review Criteria
  • Define Proposal Parameters
  • Ensure Strategic Alignment and Impact
  • Design a Transparent Review and Approval Process
  • Develop Tracking and Evaluation Framework

Applications will open in late fall and awardees will be announced at Spring In-Service on Jan. 13, 2026. Communication with important details such as eligibility, deadlines and how to apply will be shared in the fall.
